(56,848 posts)Pence will be wounded, and without Trump's ability to grab all the media attention, the media may actually focus on how horrible the actual GOP policies are instead of what outrageous things Trump said or tweeted today or last night.
That said, even though Ford was weakened, he lost a very close election to Carter in 1976.
And, when our Connecticut governor resigned about 10 years ago in the face of impending impeachment, his Lt Governor came in and was able to turn the negativity around 180 and became extremely popular and untouched by her boss' scandals. (the local cartoonist in CT took to drawing her in Snow White clothing)
So, while I would be okay with a wounded President Pence, Democrats would need to kick him while he's down to make sure he doesn't rise again.
