22. in the early 1990s

I was making $5.40 an hour at a satellite dish factory. And after I got laid off from that in 1995, I went to snow shovelling and then another satellite dish factory making about $7 an hour by piece rate and with a 40 minute one way commute, and then to part-time janitor job making $5.50 an hour, then to an auto parts factory (for one week) making $7.15 an hour (and feeling like I was getting the crap beaten out of me) and then back to no-benefits part-time janitorial work for $7.15 an hour.

So, from my perspective, $11.24 is not that bad.
