(869 posts)On the one hand, the economic downturn of the rust belt and small town America is real, and that requires empathy as well as socioeconomic policies to soften the blow, and yes, we Democrats have had a hard time with the latter, not because we did not believe in socioeconomic policies, but because we are constantly being blocked by the right.
On the other hand, they, the victims of the economic changes at hand, keep on handing power to that same right. Why? Because that right plays to their anger, fear, and prejudices on things that have nothing to do with the causes of their economic malaise, or the solution. And these voters refuse to see this, out of pure stubbornness.
So yes, this is very aggravating, and is does make you angry at these voters, not only because they are screwing themselves, but in the process everybody else, too, maybe now even the whole world. And over time this anger turns into rage. I can fully empathize.
