(9,094 posts)and mothers generally have little or no control over when a baby might get hungry.
So, baby gets hungry while mother is shopping. In order not to "offend" the mother is supposed to:
a) let her baby starve for a while (probably resulting in wailing and crying, no doubt prompting responses about "rude" people who can't "control" their babies) or;
b) give up shopping so perhaps others in her family go hungry?
All the mothers I know are busy people juggling intense schedules and operating just this side of exhaustion. Millionaire NASCAR drivers, probably not so much. When your baby is hungry, your baby is hungry. This makes the issue a tad different from choosing to tell a blonde joke. I can decide when to or when not to tell a joke. I can't decide when my baby might or might not need to be fed.
Personally, I'm offended by people who earn big bucks in entertainment (which is what NASCAR is, after all) by driving around and around in circles, burning up petroleum, trashing the environment and spitting toxic fumes into the air I have to breathe. How sympathetic do you think Mr. NASCAR would be to my being offended about that?
