(181,653 posts)A dozen or so people spoke about being afraid of losing their health care and others were worried about trump starting a war. People are scared and want to take action. There is another independent group that has 900 face book members who wants to see some protests and actions. We have a large number of people calling or going by the local GOP congressman to ask for a town hall. If the local GOP congressman has a town hall do you want us to not show up? Do you want us to not ask him questions about health care or Russia?
What do you recommend? Not confront the GOP. Not recruit candidates to take advantage of the feelings against trump? What exactly are you proposing. Do you think that it is wrong to organize groups to register voters at the local schools (in Texas public high schools are required the school to register but this is not done unless we provide the volunteer deputy registrars)?
I am volunteering on voter protection issues. Should we ignore the GOP voter suppression efforts? I have been told that polling shows that voter id is popular (this was actually argued on Tuesday by the state of Texas in the federal voter id lawsuit) and so should we let the state of Texas take the right to vote from 1.3 million eligible voters?
How cautious do you think that we need to be?
