In reply to the discussion: Trump's exit plan - will it be suicide or resignation? [View all]PoindexterOglethorpe
(25,852 posts)Keep in mind that Richard Nixon, a man vastly more stable and in touch with reality than Donald Trump could hope to be, didn't leave office until it was glaringly obvious he needed to.
Trump inhabits a fantasy world. He is completely surrounded by buffers to reality. This has been his life forever. He hasn't a clue what reality is. He has no actual connection to reality.
To suggest suicide is genuinely offensive. While I'm not a fan of Donald Trump, to suggest this is beyond the pale.
Nor will he resign voluntarily, as Nixon did. Nixon at least had a history in electoral politics, and was finally able to comprehend that his position was not sustainable. Donald is completely removed from the real world. His entire life he's been surrounded by sycophants who've told him over and over that he's just fine, perfect, the right man for the job. He's never been told no, which is why various courts ruling against him on Muslim bans is so perplexing to him No? What's that?
If and only if there is a massive uprising against him, or actual court proceedings against him will he resign. But I wouldn't bet on it.
