In reply to the discussion: Trump's exit plan - will it be suicide or resignation? [View all]Liberty Belle
(9,534 posts)If he resigned, he would be more apt to say he's needed by his business empire or maybe that he's stepping out to avoid conflicts of interest and has great confidence in Pence to run the country.
In one sense though Pence could be worse.
Because Trump is a narcissist he wants to be popular. He knows the GOP health plan is so bad, if he signed it everyone would hate him. one thing he does have is backbone--he's a fighter, and could choose to fight the Republicans in Congress and insist they either come up with a better plan, or he won't sign anything - no repeal of Obamacare.
That's better than Pence who would probably sign whatever the worst extremists want.
If Trump stays in, we're more apt to see investigations get going eventually, or even an independent prosecutor who could dig up enough dirt to take out some cabinet officials or even members of Congress if they were complicit in sabotage by the Russians.
We'd have to get very far down the line of secession to have any hope of real improvement.
