35. Christian Authoritarians... Christitarians?

Evangelicals tend to believe in ultimate authority (God) and they try to impose their beliefs on others -- e.g., teaching Biblical creationism in schools.

White evangelicals view themselves as representatives of ultimate authority, granted to them by God and above question, and they perceive their white culture as a reflection of it. Concerns about equality among people of all cultures is viewed as a threat to their authority granted by God.

All happiness and success in this country comes from God as well, and they arrogantly believe it's their adherence to old cultural/religious beliefs that granted them favored status throughout American history, and they pulled up the rest of the country as well. Breaks from the cultural ways of the past is thereby opposed to God, and it means doom for the country at large.

Since all people are sinners in their minds, Trump's moral mistakes are forgiven as long as he promotes their beliefs in general -- e.g., God has favored the USA because he favors their religious and cultural beliefs.
