When they were little, we used to take our daughters to visit with my grandfather at least once a year in the States. He was so proud of his little blonde beauties. They used to cuddle up to him on the couch in his apartment, and babble to each other in their native German, of which he understood absolutely nothing. But they were so proud to have a great-grandfather, and beamed when we went to his 100th birthday party in New York.

So, I completely get how much your daughter's encouragement means to your dad, and I completely get how much it meant to him. Treasure the moments!
