5. Well, we all know actual religious precepts of decency

and morality -- as they pertain to outsiders -- have been thrown under the bus in this era. Cons tend to be relatively malleable by leaders, and they have been taken over by some increasingly extremely bad ones over the past 35 years.

But they don't have to be like this. They can be and often are wonderful to people they haven't been trained to see as problems and enemies, as in those they see as their own.

And American cons' concern over the supposed destructive effects of government programs makes a whole lot more sense when one realizes that a gut belief in an important natural order--existing even without religion--is much stronger in them. That government programs that interfere with, instead of working with it, may cause worse problems than without. A fairly sensible characteristic if not overdone. Many once supported New Deal programs, and by far most don't want their SS meddled with. Unfortunately, this resistance, and refusal to believe that libs agree to a point, have been developed to the max by malignant anti-government manipulators.
