This man is a successful businessman himself (and not of the sociopathic huckster kind, unlike a certain orange fellow
). So I think he might be a little credible on this.
Anyway, he said to me that he had "had the misfortune of staying in a Trump hotel a number of years back." Naturally, this piqued my curiosity. So as I asked him a few more questions, this man revealed that Donald Trump just happened to be visiting this particular property on one of the days that this man was staying there.
They met in the downstairs lobby. Now, this man said that he had heard a lot of unflattering anecdotes about Trump, but other than that he really wasn't quite sure what to expect. So I asked him what Trump was actually like in person. The man replied, "He's hands down the biggest asshole I have ever met. And let me tell you something - I've met a LOT of assholes over the several decades I've done business. But this guy...goddamn.
To be more specific, he said that Trump had the most fake, incredibly awkward "smile" - the kind of expression that betrayed how much he genuinely despised listening to other people. The only times Trump really seemed to be animated and upbeat, the man told me, were "when he was talking about himself and how proud he was of his 'tremendous success.' Which was easily 80% or more of what he talked about."
Seems like Trump made quite an "impression."
