44. I know what you mean. I feel like it's sooooo obvious when I meet someone

like that and I immediately am repulsed by them. I remember a few years ago we were looking to replace a bunch of appliances and an acquaintance told us to go to a particular store and ask for some guy (I forget his name). Said he was really great and wouldn't try to screw us over, etc. So we went and within 30 seconds of meeting him my husband and I were ready to walk out. He was like a character out of a movie he was so smarmy and fake. I really questioned our friend's judgment after that.

But it must work because clearly that dude had worked at the appliance store for awhile and hadn't been fired. So somebody is buying what he's selling. Not me though, I have such a strong negative reaction to anyone trying to sell me shit if there's even a whiff of insincerity.
