The Kushners [View all]

Kelly O'Donnell on MSNBC just referred to the Kushners, as the media continues to repeat, as "devout Jews."

Devout Jews do not ask rabbis for permission to violate the Sabbath. I could list a number of other indicators that make it clear that the Kushners are
what many would call "Conservadox," that gray area where many Jews make peace with balancing the laws of Judaism and the modern world. There is nothing wrong with that. But a "devout Jew" is something very different.

I know some will find this petty and that criticism of others religious practice may be inappropriate. But the Kushners hold themselves out as something they are not. It's offensive to a lot of people.
