9. These people are sickening. What is wrong with this country?

Yesterday, I was in a little Italian market right near my apartment which is in a very liberal neighborhood in a very blue city. The market is mostly staffed by Latin American immigrants. When I went up to pay after this older woman, the women behind the counter said to me "She scares us"! I asked why and they told me a few days ago that she started screaming at them for speaking Spanish to each other. They speak excellent English with the customers, but this old crank had a problem with them speaking their native language to each other!

I was kind of shocked to hear about such ugly racism in this neighborhood but I told them to report her and ignore her because most of us are disgusted by that kind of attitude and behavior. They did report her to management. I am not sure what the outcome is, but I hope she is banned from shopping there.
