If Eastern PA isn't working out for you, a quick search on Indeed shows thousands of postings for experienced mechanical engineers in places like Houston, Auburn Hills MI, San Diego, and other cities.

If you can stomach the Trump train, there is a need for engineers on Defense contracts that are reserved for US citizens who can pass a security clearance and move to places like Norfolk and Annapolis, maybe even the Navy facilities in Philly and Harrisburg if you want to stay local.
