I was raised Catholic but have never been to the Vatican and don't know about its rules. I recall being a kid and the women wearing hats, veils or just doilies on their heads. Then some time when I was still a child, we were relieved of that requirement! And were allowed to have guitar masses rather than organ! Oh, the scandal! I can remember older people of then, I guess late 60s, being utterly scandalized about that.
