that Catholicism adopted the practice of women covering their heads while in church from the Greeks, who believed that the gods could impregnate women through their uncovered heads

However, it was no laughing matter to me when I, as a Catholic girl, forgot to bring my veil to Church and my mom had to bobby pin a Kleenex to my hair(preVatican II). I remember seeing women wearing anything they could cover their heads with, even plastic rain bonnets. I never knew why we females had to cover our heads while I was a Catholic, But I do remember the fear I had if I failed to do so.

I laugh at the reason and the Kleenex now, though.
