(114,547 posts)so you know whether or not that PITI every month will be an adequate hedge against rising rent no matter whether you're underwater or not.
You see, that's what makes home ownership appealing even now with an unstable market, having that hedge against rising prices (and unreasonable landlords, insane neighbors, and the rest of the delights of apartment living).
I sincerely hope you never have to repeat 2009 and the economic horror show you've been through. My own horror show lasted from 2002-2006. Just when everybody else was sliding into disaster, my own status got pretty good and has remained so.
Just never forget what it was like on the bottom. I know I won't and I do look for opportunities to give others a hand. If we all do that as our condition improves, maybe we can pull ourselves out of this mess with help from a Democratic Congress.
