This is exactly right. Every time someone gets all angsty about "How do we appeal to the white male vote?!?" I'm wondering why we would even bother. Why don't we go after the nearly 1/2 of the voting public that doesn't bother to vote? If we get even a fraction of non-voters we'll be fine. Instead we're always chasing the elusive working class white man. How about instead we have policies that appeal to non-voters and maybe some WWC come along of their own accord. And those that don't? Screw 'em. I'm sick and tired of their whining. You know what? My life didn't turn out the way I expected it to either. I'm A LOT poorer than I thought I'd be at this point. I'll never have enough to retire. I'm going to have to work right up to lunch on the day of my funeral. I live paycheck to paycheck, and God forbid something unexpected occurs because then even that goes out the window. But you know what all this "economic anxiety" didn't do? It didn't turn me into a big flaming racist tool. It also didn't suck 50 IQ points off me. Some of the WWC are just assholes, and if Democrats want to make the tent big enough to include them, they won't need to increase the size of the tent, because I'll go out the other side.

{Sigh} Well, somehow I managed to go off on a tangent when all I really wanted to say was, "Great post. Welcome to DU." I'm not quite sure what happened. I've been really angry since November, even before that, really.
