41. I didn't say Carter wasn't successful...

I said he was too good to be MORE successful.

By this I meant that US Presidents seem to have had to lie, cheat dissemble, and engage in other questionable conduct in order to push their agenda through Congress.

Had Carter been willing to do that, he might have been more successful. However, something even more valuable - his integrity - would have been lost in the process.
