(56,848 posts)If Trump goes down in the next year or so, Pence will be a wounded lame duck and will likely not even run again for 2020. Look for some of the same players - Kasich, Rubio, Cruz, Jeb, and maybe another governor or two to be players.
Additionally, Trump has been able to play the media like a fiddle most of the time - he talks, then run to cover what he says because he might say that next outrageous thing; he tweets, and it's big news that sometimes dominates the entire news cycle and drowns out coverage of important things like healthcare. Pence is the anti-Trump in terms of charisma - he's dull and bland and the media might actually be forced to cover some of the deplorable things Congress is doing to screw over the poor and middle class because they won't be scrambling to hear what Trump said or read what he Tweeted.
