(131,684 posts)Even assuming all of this is true about Pence and Ryan - if a president leaves office for any reason, the VP becomes president, and that new president now is required to appoint a new vice-president. So if Trump goes down Pence becomes president and he appoints a VP. While that person has to be confirmed by the Senate, keep in mind who controls the Senate. So then say Pence gets impeached and removed - the new president, Pence's VP, also appoints a new VP. Ryan never gets to be president, and neither does Hatch, unless one of them is appointed as VP by Trump or Pence.
The only way Ryan would get to be president via the succession order is if Trump and Pence were impeached and removed from office simultaneously, before either could appoint another VP. The only way Hatch gets to be president via the succession order is if Trump, Pence and Ryan are impeached and then removed from office simultaneously, which will not happen.
