In reply to the discussion: Bernie was in the same ads as Pelosi [View all]BainsBane
(53,032 posts)All I hear are cries for a "fresh face." leader does. Her being in the House as opposed to the Senate is absolutely irrelevant. Your criticism has nothing to do with the functioning of the House. None of the arguments do. Your comments do nothing to disprove my comments about hypocrisy.
I have no doubt the GOP would like a new minority leader. Pelosi has been an enormously effective leader and kept the Democratic caucus in line. She stands in the way of Trump's agenda being passed. You all want a "new face," yet show absolutely no concern about how that person would be able to keep the caucus from peeling off and voting with the GOP. That is Pelosi's job, and she's a hell of a lot better at it than most who have held the position in either party. Yet all we hear is how some want a "new face," as though politics were about entertaining television audiences.
Fortunately for the party and the country, House leadership positions are voted on by congress, not Nielsen ratings. The reason for that is they actually know what the speaker's job is and the kinds of skills that are necessary to carry it out.
This is the ad. Bernie is featured more prominently than Pelosi is in it.
The one that comes after features them both together as "liberal party bosses."
If the party is going to make decisions according to GOP ads, that takes Bernie out as well.
