I think most parents try to indoctrinate their children with the same values, including political values, as themselves. Of course, if these children think for themselves as they get older, this doesn't always turn out as planned - which might explain why I voted for Michael Dukakis two years after registering as a Republican in my senior year at a Catholic high school.

But I do try to educate my daughter a bit, occasionally showing her things I find on sites like Democratic Underground. She is 17, and has been raised mainly by me (her dad) since the age of 2.

So a couple days ago I saw this ("Wisconsin Lawmaker Introduces Law To Classify Single Parenthood As Child Abuse&quot and just had to show her. She got a "WTF" look on her face.. well, ok, she actually said the words. At that point, all I had to do was shrug, shake my head, and say, "Well, that's Republicans for ya!"

Somehow I don't think she'll be joining College Republicans anytime soon.
