And a comment here: If this is to happen - Pence needs to resign soon - as eyes are beginning to focus on him and his possible knowledge of the Russian collusion and his possible meetings/contacts with the Russians. He needs to walk out of the Trump administration relatively unscathed. I don't know if that is possible.
I just posted my theory about some of the notable Repugs that are leaving the Party and declaring themselves as Independents.
Your Pence theory here might fit in with my scenario as to the 2018 Midterms.
