Showing Original Post only (View all)I'm going to state an unpopular view here: Romney and McCain are decent men [View all]
Their political views were (and are) wrong. I disagree with each on 99% of their policy agendas.
But they weren't bad people with evil in their hearts.
They lost the Presidential races simply because they were running against a better candidate in Barack Obama.
Either of them would've been OK as President following Obama's 8 years. We would've had policy battles with them, but we never would have had to worry about them hiring *ACTUAL* Nazis, or defending *ACTUAL* White Supremacists, of actually colluding with a foreign enemy.
During the election campaigns of 2008 and 2012, we portrayed them as unacceptable choices, because that's what happens in a campaign that's a binary choice. You have to demonize your opponent.
But both men are patriots, and if either had become President, the Republic would've been OK. We'd not be as far along on some things as we'd want to be, but we wouldn't be where we are today.
They are men of good will, who we disagreed with on policy.
But they aren't monsters. Today, we have a monster in the White House.
I'd be able to sleep at night if Mitt Romney was my President right now. I'd probably be fighting against his tax cut policies and other ways he'd be helping the richest of the rich.... but I wouldn't be seeing the very fabric of our nation being ripped to shreds in front of the world. I wouldn't be worried about bumbling into World War III. I wouldn't be worried that Russia had komromat on our President.
I'm not sorry I voted against either man, because Barack Obama was a superior candidate in every possible way.
But I'm sorry that neither man was the GOP nominee in 2016. I would've still voted for Hillary, but at least I wouldn't be watching our nation collapse in front of my eyes if they would've defeated her.
Both men are key to the resistance right now. Both men are calling Trump out by name. Both men are patriots. And I gladly welcome both men into the Resistance.

That's exactly my point. At least the Republic would survive their 4 years.

No. Because in the end neither of these 2 clowns would really be in charge. Bottom

I agree. Don't think either is evil, but extremely misguided on some issues.
