The media was proximately connected to putting Trump in office. Once ensconced, they have (rightfully) questioned his every word, act and omission.

The bottom line truth is, Trump's propaganda machine can make any claim it wishes; the base will lap it up, regardless of its veracity, and truth is of absolutely zero consequence.
