Whether your church was open as a refuge or not during the hurricane, the perception is that it wasn't. As a corollary to that the perception is that you were more worried about your possessions than you were about helping those in need.

True or not, once a perception is spread around it is nearly impossible to refute.

Democrats and the left have spent decades dealing with false perceptions planted by biased news organizations and yes, by religious organizations.

So now you are dealing with what so many have had to deal with in this country for decades. True or not perception is reality. I happen to believe that the perception also happens to reflect reality in this case.
