He knows what his approval numbers are, and he has demonstrated his loyalty lies nowhere. It makes sense he'd rather be on the winning side.

Not that this will change him whatsoever, but if we have a puppet president, we need to grab the strings.

Plus if he does some favors for the Democrats, he might think he'll get some leniency with regard to making Russia go away.
