In reply to the discussion: ***BREAKING*** Trump bucks GOP leadership, backs Democratic deal on debt ceiling, funding government [View all]stopbush
(24,397 posts)85. tRump is an easily manipulated idiot, and the Ds have figured it out.
Give him a small "victory," and before long he will find himself turning to the Ds to get things done. At that point, all the Ds need do is point out that the Rs are worthless, and that the reason nothing is getting done is because their policies are crap and the American people hate them. It then becomes a small matter of convincing tRump that his poll numbers would go up a lot if he would work with Ds to adopt D policies, policies most Americans want.
tRump only needs to get 3 R Senators to side with any deal he makes with the Ds. The House might be trickier, but as the elections loom and House Rs realize their party is dragging them down, enough could switch their votes to enable a pro-D agenda to move thru Congres and to be enacted.
