(98,883 posts)republicans in Congress 11 days before the election, and that they would be re-examining emails from a laptop they had for at least a month. The first thing, the MEDIA did was say that the email investigation was being reopened. THAT WAS A LIE.
MSNBC reported that, then paraded every republican politician across their screen to propagate that LIE for the next two hours. Soon other networks and newspapers were spewing the same bullshit LIE, and in the next several days the lead that Hillary had was completely erased. There is no such thing as coincidences. This was cause and effect.
All this time Comey remained UNAVAILABLE for comment, and allowed this bullshit to spin out of control.
As things started to quiet down, Bret Baer from fox news reported "from HIS sources in the FBI, they told him an indictment against the Clinton Foundation was imminent. That was also a LIE, but that didn't stop other news outlets from reporting it. A few days later Bret Baer came out and apologized for his reports, saying he was mistaken, but the damage was pretty much already done then, and the social media had already spread the LIE like wild fire.
It was disappointing to see Rachel Maddow praising Bret Baer for admitting "the mistake", which most probably wasn't a mistake.
By the time the end of the week rolled around, late Friday, Comey came out and reported that there was nothing new in those emails, and that the investigation would NOT be reopened. Of course the damage had already been done, and while the media reported it, they didn't give it that much attention.
Comey is no hero, and the media distorted the facts again. They characterized the Democrats as double faced because they first bashed Comey for when he released letter to the republicans in Congress, and then praised him when he went after trump. That of course is a complete distortion of what happened. They were rightful upset with Comey when he violated the Hatch Act by interfering in an election 11 days before, but they weren't praising him when he revealed the obstruction that trump was involved in. They simply trying to get at the truth. The two events were mutually exclusive, and they never praised Comey.
