(67,782 posts)We have the ACA, Medicaid, and Medicare. Under the circumstances, that's pretty comprehensive. Not perfect, but along with employer insurance roughly 90% of Americans now have access to healthcare coverage.
There is a bill proposed that may be voted on this week that could eliminate coverage for an estimated 20-30 million Americans. That's almost 10%. Until that bill is defeated ALL efforts should be expended to protect what we have and defeat that bill.
There's plenty of time to propose alternatives to what we have, but many of us don't understand the "urgency" of mucking up the waters by proposing yet another proposal in the face of a serious threat to the ACA.
With the real risk of millions of Americans losing their healthcare coverage, no one should be cut any slack until that risk is eliminated.
