I just read myself that some airstrips have now been cleared by our military to handle the huge cargo planes, so maybe things are starting to happen. Far too slowly when so much could already have been done by water even if the ports are not able to be used. Aircraft carriers could have carried a whole lot of supplies, generators, fuel, and water, moved by helicopter to the island if there were no other way.

What aid is now being sent has taken so terribly long to arrive, and not kicking the Jones Act out the frikin' window is a crime. Why weren't the ships and hospital ship now being sent from Norfolk readied in advance of the hurricane. We already knew south FL was not going to be able to respond in a timely manner, given FL's own recovery efforts.

I agree fully with the fact that PR is getting treated like a red-headed stepchild here. I just thought Delmette2.0 didn't deserve getting his/her head bitten off.
