Androids apparently have recurring problems determining location, particularly under certain low power settings where they try to use WiFi info rather than GPS. In some cases, clearing the application data for Google Maps seems to fix the problem.

The location in Russia is fairly random — could be anywhere. If you were really hacked, you would probably not have any obvious indication. Android security is spotty, depending on vendors. Make sure all updates are installed. Avoid unnecessary apps, be careful of downloads.

That’s about the limit of my Android knowledge. I live in the Linux, Unix, OpenVMS, MAC, and iPhone worlds.
