Had to be titled by 6/29, but I needed to get it inspected before I could retitle it.
Couldn't get it inspected until I had a temporary permit to drive it to the inspection station. I got that 7/1.
Then couldn't get it running until 7/10. Ran it a bit on 7/10 and 7/11 until it "felt" normal and took it for inspection.
Rounded up all the paperwork and took it to the county office yesterday, 7/17.
Well, it wasn't within the 20-day period. So I could either get all the sale documentation re-signed and re-notarized, or ...
I could look helpless and explain stuff to the clerk. The paperwork the nice clerk behind the counter produced for me says that the new title is dated 6/29/2012.
The one-year registration expires at the end of 6/2013. The car now shows as being normally registered for use on public roads a full two days before I got the temporary permit for it. Numerous days before the inspection happened. Quite amusing.
(But that's impossible! There's no such thing as time travel! We need an exploding head emoticon.
