1. i don't think public whining actually "obstructs" an investigation, in and of itself.

building public support for something like firing a special prosecutor is legally meaningless.
actually firing a special prosecutor, that's something else entirely.

on the other hand, there's certainly an expected protocol in washington, and talking about an ongoing investigation, particularly criticizing prosecutors, is usually a big no-no. not illegal, just a breach or propriety.

put another way, if hillary were being investigated and she said half the crap republicans are saying, they'd be impeaching her. well, they'd be impeaching her anyway just for being a democrat, and especially a woman, but that's another story....

seriously, imagine hillary as president, saying a special prosecutor investigating her should be fired.
there's no way the right-wing and the media wouldn't go ballistic.
