(55,334 posts)Agree about the age thing, however. Under 60 is the new Under 50. I repeat this every six months or so, so excuse my repetition, but...
Every time in the last century when the Democrats have taken back the White House, it's been with a young candidate:
Roosevelt - 50 yrs old
Jimmy Carter, 52
John Kennedy, 43
Bill Clinton, 46
Barack Obama, 47
Except for Al Gore, every time we've blown a winnable race, our candidate's been older than Carter was:
Hubert Humphrey, 57
Mike Dukakis, 55
John Kerry, 61
Hillary Clinton, 69 (I know she won the vote by a wide margin, but her electoral "loss" was the result of a strategic miscalculation)
History is pretty clear about this: Barring a global war against fascism, Democrats over the age of 54 can't get elected president.
