(6,352 posts)He's just the guy who came closest to the last nomination without winning it. He won't run third party for the same reason he didn't in 2016. The same article in 2005 would have tapped Hillary, in 2001 would have tapped somebody other than Kerry...
Let's talk about 2018 first. Stop excessive focus on the top of the ticket, especially this far out (it's important, but not all-important, as the gerrymandered Congress and R-controlled state houses should tell us all).
If Sanders makes it to the general election with a (D) by his name, he has my vote. Ditto for Biden, Harris, Warren, Gillibrand... the list goes on. Doesn't matter today who among them would be my first choice; I'll figure that out once we see who runs and when primary season is upon us. I have my favorites, you probably do too, but we have a lot more important things to do now than this.
