(602 posts)46. Bonesetters and herbalists
I read a book many years ago about the AMA's war against bonesetters and herbalists, but it was not the book you mention. I've read Nickel and Dimed and several of Barbara Ehrenreich's articles, so I'll definitely put this one on my list.
There's a quiet battle taking place at my partner's place of work. They deal a lot with pain management, and there's a doctor there who is heavily involved in finding herbal treatment alternatives to the prescription drugs. Needless to say, there's a lot of pushback from the other allopaths. On the plus side, many of the doctors are less opposed to incorporating medical marijuana into the treatment plan. Just wait until they find out it's an herb!
