(11,175 posts)28. Referring to "a 'nothing to see here' approach" is inaccurate and unfair.
The linked article says, "Roof's racist motives have the Charleston Police Department and the FBI investigating the massacre as a hate crime."
People are free to argue that "terrorism" carries some oomph that "hate crime" doesn't. Nevertheless, it's absolutely clear that there's a huge gap between, on the one hand, investigating it as a hate crime, and, on the other hand, an approach of "nothing to see here."
