71. There is some truth in the starvation point

though it's technically a half truth. We've wiped out the wolf population in much of the country. This has led to an explosion in the deer population (as well as some other animals). And without the wolves to keep them in check the deer can over breed to the point of mass starvation.

Now the logical fix to restore balance would be to simply reintroduce wolves and let them clean it up as they always did before we came along. However farmers will have none of that (wolves also kill livestock). Besides wolves are scary (we'll ignore the fact that wolf attacks on humans are nearly non-existant).

No, us being who we are, we came up with a much more American way to solve the problem while simultaniously getting our blood lust fill. We'll mass shoot the deer so they don't mass die to starvation.

It's actually brilliant if you think about it.
