....but I always figured that what my teachers wore was more of a standard than an actual dress code. Teachers were an example of what grownups were supposed to be, and their dress was part of that. My female teachers almost always wore skirts or dresses; males wore a shirt & tie, often a suit. It wasn't until my junior year of high school that I ever recall seeing a male teacher not in a tie. (And I was probably scarred for life by the sight of my 27-year-old Civics teacher in a pair of snug jeans on Dress Down Day my senior year.)
(Upon further reflection...no, probably not scarred for life.) 
As for even suggesting that this teacher has some share of the blame in this? That's simply the dumbest thing I've heard since one man was acquitted of taking a bribe that another man was convicted of paying. (Or was it the other way around? Fall & Doheny)
