(17,146 posts)135. You're right; they have to address the loss of coal jobs much better than they have.
I certainly don't think we should let these people starve if they continue to want those coal industry jobs. We clearly have to do something else; coal is dirty (no such thing as "clean coal"
and it really is the worst polluter when it comes to climate change and air quality.
But people in those communities are suffering. There are no other jobs that pay as well (and these don't pay all that well either). I can certainly understand their hostility to Democrats, most of whom live far away from these areas and don't give a damn about these communities.
