Quick example: my mother had a mild case of flu several years ago, and my brother, an experienced and board certified MD, was at the house along with me. She was suddenly almost overcome by intense nausea at one point, and he had no idea what to do without anti-nausea medicine on hand. I quickly boiled some water and grated some fresh ginger into it, and the nausea passed very quickly after she started drinking it. He was more than a little surprised.
Natural healing is not taught in medical school. Preventive nutrition is only briefly touched on for diabetes and heart disease, just the basic stuff... everything else is oriented around pharma and surgery.
Integrative, also called functional, medicine, brings in the wisdom of non pharma based wellness, but those doctors are few and far between.
