(13,357 posts)4. We had recovered from being the Ugly American to now being the Diseased American.
We have so many cases, and still rising, that most countries dont want us. As a retiree, I looked forward to my annual travels to Europe. I see none in the foreseeable future.
But that loss for me is nothing compared with the thousands who are dying here from this nasty disease, and I cannot stop wondering how many might have been saved if we had a competent leader who took the danger seriously instead of trying for weeks to dismiss it as a hoax. President Obama would have made a huge difference in our response to the virus.
