4. I don't understand it. Several of the senators who allowed this to go down

are good and reasonable people who I would not have expected to sell out our privacy like this. Am I misunderstanding the significance of this? It seems like they just gave the federal government the key to every American's internet use. That has some profound implications for political internet use, obviously..
