Jacinda Ardern of New Zealand and Angela Merkel of Germany have both been praised for their strict policies and better-than-average results. Now the Democratic governor of Maine has shown that following the rules works. Gina Raimondo of Rhode Island has also been a strong leader. She set up a statewide testing program for students and staff so schools could reopen safely. The state has had several days with no new cases or deaths.

I hope the next time Trump mouths off about Democrats running states poorly some reporter has the guts to throw the facts about Maine and Rhode Island in his face—also the fact that the states with the highest number of cases today are Republican states of Florida, Louisiana, and Mississippi. Several Midwestern states are also experiencing big outbreaks.
