I have read articles that every once in a while will broach the subject of HEPA filters. And although they are not perfect for the very finest particles of viruses, they DO help to capture droplets that are too small to be stopped by a mask but big enough to be caught by the filter.
For the long term, there really needs to be what should be considered "masking-up a building with a (HEPA) filter".
And yes - I was streaming CNN yesterday and looked up and saw the fiasco on Rockville Pike (I have been along that stretch many times and it's also right near the big NIH campus). The media were whining about their press pool "not being told" what the President's schedule was and that this was going to happen, and how not contacting them breached precedent.
Well DAMMIT - "not following precedent" has been the STANDARD operating procedure for this administration SINCE DAY ONE. It was their main campaign theme in 2015/2016. And for some idiotic reason, they keep expecting something different.
