(261,101 posts)And we're still learning as we go how to deal with all this. Filters would be ideal in any enclosed places, but we need to learn what's effective and that takes time. Putting kids in enclosed places before we learn how to keep them safe makes absolutely no sense at all. So many who work in offices are still working at home for the foreseeable future, but it's okay to send active kids back to the classroom? Out of curiosity, I took a look at my own elementary school's website - and the complicated plans for the combination of virtual and classroom learning, health checks, plans for meals and transportation gave me a headache just trying to follow all of it...
As for colleges, the paper reported one SUNY university that shut down and sent kids home after only two weeks because of a spike in cases. And I know a couple who has two kids in college - both in Pennsylvania. The son is in his first year, has already been sent home - and the daughter has stayed, lives in an apartment and is attending virtual classes. But the parents are frustrated since they paid so much for tuition and both of their kids are missing out on any kind of college experience.
As for Trump I couldn't agree more. With the press, it's a case of having seen this unpredictable blowhard in action for over 4 years - but STILL expecting different results!
