(833 posts)I'm as outraged as everyone who has replied to this post. But the long view of history will have it's say, even if we can't somehow reunite the shattered families, reform the venal religious bigots, get World Court convictions, or any of the rest of it. In Julius Caesar, Shakespeare writes, "The evil that men do lives after them; the good is oft interred with their bones." There'll be no "good" interred with dump's rotting carcass, but the evil he has done will be remembered and written about for the foreseeable future. He wanted to be a Colossus, but he'll be remembered as a monster of a completely different sort. I know that does nothing to soothe the present rage. But rage is corrosive, and maybe we can be at least partially assuaged in knowing that this perverse psychopath will be judged by a higher court than we can convene, here and now.
